One-way sync for OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online

The upload of my picture library to OneDrive for Business didn’t worked as smooth as expected. Most probably I took simply more pictures than anyone building the sync client could ever expect.

To address upload issues with very large files and large number of files, I developed and released a client as free software which will take care of those issues.

Especially keeping key metadata like the modified date and creation date was very important in regards to the picture tool.

The free tool available under https://fiechter.eu/onedrivebackup/ and will ensure the copy / backup of files from Microsoft Online Services and SharePoint on-premises:

• Local File System à SharePoint Online, SharePoint 2013 or SharePoint 2016
• SharePoint à SharePoint
• SharePoint à Local File System

Beside copying the tool copies and secures also metadata

• Modified date
• Creation date
• In case of SharePoint à SharePoint
  • Created By
  • Modified By
  • Other metadata

The software allows further to select the criteria on which the targets files will be overwritten and allows the deletion of local files.
